Public Service Announcements (PSAs)

As information pertaining to drug and/or alcohol use and abuse becomes available, VMAC will inform the public through local newspapers, websites and VTV by publishing Public Service Announcents (PSAs) and press releases.

In Spring 2013, VMAC began offering a scholarship to VHS Seniors.  In order to be eligible, a student needs to have been involved with one of the clubs that VMAC sponsors at VHS – the Peer Leadership Program, Heroes and Cool Kids, or STARS.

In 2013, the scholarship was awarded to Gabriela Latimer, who was active in VMAC’s Peer Leadership program for 2 years in high school.  She created a video PSA on Prom Night “Make it a Memory.  Not a Regret”, which can be viewed on YouTube by clicking here.

In 2014, the scholarship went to Jillian Sprong for a PSA on the dangers of texting while driving.  Michaela Fogarty won the scholarship in 2015 for a print PSA about underage drinking.  The 2016 scholarship went to Nell Karpinski.  Nell’s entry, titled “Pick Your Poison” shows the different types of alcoholic beverages, along with some of the problems that they can cause.
